I have recently purchased a 2011 L. P. Standard. What is the best input to use? With my custom shop Strat I always used #1 input.

I recently change my Tubes - to Tung Sol 6V6 & 12AX7's and had the amp biased at 23.

The OT has also been changed to an Allen TO20.

Amp is way louder. Any suggestions to tame the amp?

Hi bender1,

Input 2 will be attenuated, lowering the sound from the amp when that input is used. Try both inputs and see which sounds better to you. By "taming" the amp, do you mean that the breakup is too early? If your Plate voltage is at 440 volts as the schematic shows, then your bias is on the hot side, you could reduce the bias to clean up the sound. You could also try some lower gain preamp tubes such as a 5751 or 12AT7 to get a cleaner sound.

The amp does not break up early. The amp is just louder now and the highs are a bit of a shrill. I have the volume set around 3.

Oh, you didn't mention the highs before. You might try some different tubes or speaker for better response of the highs. As far as being too loud, turn the volume down.
