I'll throw in a suggestion here from Down-under way (NZ), I have one of these, very nice indeed it's one of those pedals rarely mentioned yet puts most I've tried to shame. Worth a look anyway.

I do my own cabinetry and I've built several of these "Spankmaster Reverb" conversions -- some in traditional black, others in blonde. My clients love them.

"Mrs. Retroverbial" was kind enough to modify a Vibro King cover to fit mine, just like a factory job......

Back on topic :)
I also have the Fulltone OCD, which goes really well with the Deluxe.

I also have a Boss OD3 and a Visual Sounds Drivetrain 2, which will work great for Blues type music...

Hi Boys !

I tried the OCD today ! I thought something was wrong with the amp because every pedal i tried sounded thin like a 5 Dollar "Cheap-O-Grande" Wallmart OD-Pedal in the Vibrato/Reverb Channel. The Normal Channel sounded really fat with the OCD.

Then I searched the internet and found this:

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/amp-central- ... stion.html

This bright cap will pronounce the highs at lower volumes in the vibrato channel and at higher volumes it will go out of the circuit.

I will bring the amp to a tech next week to desolder this cap and check/fix the bias (i am not used to fiddle in the inside of amps...I guess it is better to let someone do this who has the knowledge  )

Cheers !

While you have the amp disemboweled you might consider having the "Fritz Mod" done simultaneously as well......

http://www.fenderforum.com/userphotos/i ... ecid=48201

As you can see, it's so easy even a cave man could do it.

Personally, I left my "bright cap" in situ and use the vibrato channel with my Gibsons (which "bite" a skosh better with a little treble kick).

Best of luck, Marcus

Arjay

Hey Arjay,

Did you do the Fritz-Mod with your DRRI only, or with other amps as well?

The reverend

Thus far, only with the DRRI. But Fred Holzhauer (the "inventor" of the Fritz Mod and one of the heavyweights over on the TDRPI forum) said he was working to adapt the alteration to the TRRI and SRRI platforms as well. This was back in December -- the design and engineering for those amps may in fact already be done.

Hey Arjay !

Thanks for the link !

I guess, I keep this "bright cap" in the DRRI. As it will gradually go out of the circuit when you crank the volume. At TDRPI someon mentioned, at Volume around "6" it is completely shorted = out of the circuit and no effect. Well, I will let it on the pcb-board and save some money but when the day comes and I recognize it has to be removed: tech lives 5 minutes by car away from me ;)

Well, I can practice at home on the normal channel with the OCD at low volums and when we jam in a small club, I must crank the volume so the bright cap is without any effect when I use the vibrato channel. And when I play in the Big Band I also have to crank the DRRI but I need a Mic in front of the DRRI... 16 x brass gets freakin loud :)
Normal or Vibrato Channel in the Big Band depends on the situation whether I need a tad of reverb or the hall is big enough and I need no reverb.

I really thougt the amp was broken but now, everything is fine !

Thank you all !
Markus
