i'm 2 weeks in on a wait for a speaker to arrive, getting antsy.

i can wait, thats not the problem, but i just wish i had some kind of update or communication from them so i dont feel like i am hanging out in the wind. feedback to keep me in the loop would be appreciated. i'm waiting for them to reply to a "status check" email i sent friday. maybe they need another day or two to get to it?

argh, trying to be patient kills...

the thing that worries me more is that i've read stories about people waiting way longer than what the website claims as the standard lead time. makes me wonder how long this will go on. but again, some reassurance from them would be great to have right now.

Weber is located in Kokomo, Indiana north of Indianapolis. They have a medium size shop and don't have alot of employees. They get tons of email and phone calls a day. It took a while to answer my email but they do answer. They build custom speakers the old fashion way right here in the USA and are very good at it. Good things come to those who wait.

I have Webers in all my amps, probably 10 speakers or more, and they are worth the wait.
It will get there, don't get impatient. :) 2 weeks or more sometimes here in the USA.

btw...what did you get?
Also be kind of patient on the breakin of the speaker, they get better with time....just go lightly on it for the first hour slowly building up....that's what I've been taught...at first I just let it sit for a few minutes warming up to the white noise, then at a low volume playing a few chords, coming up with the volume and building up to some single note lines...doesn't take long before cranking it some.
Everybody has their own method...ymmv

Rebelsoul,
i got a 10A125 for a pro jr. 30 watt, light dope.

Been using a rajin cajun in there, but ive been having some trouble liking my tone for quite some time. i have a stash of nice preamp tubes, so its not that. using JJ's in the poweramp. i decided to try alnico speaker and see if that makes a difference (this pro jr came with the brown label emi, not the blue guy).

one major reason for this speaker change...i notice a strange fizzy aftertaste when im driving the amp hard with the cajun in, you can hear this as the overdrive/breakup decays. its even worse with humbucker guitars. i remember this same sound with an eminence oem speaker, in a different amp even, so i figured maybe ill try a non-emi speaker, and i wondered if the ceramic magnet was contributing to this. you could probably classify this as "harshness".
could anything else be responsible for this?

My TRRI sounds soooo dang good right now, However I will be willing to bet the Eminence will go on e-bay and a pair of Weber californias will find there way in eventually.

Just due to the fact that Webers have improved every amp i've installed them in.

Let us know when it arrives and then in about a week when its nicely broken in.

Keep an eye on recent Ebay listings, BB. A number of Weber California's (both 12's and 15's) have been showing up lately, priced pretty reasonably. Around eighty-five bucks for a twelve.

I recently installed a 12F150 in my DRRI. I had to wait about 3 1/2 - 4 weeks for it. Big difference. Well worth the wait!
