I have one of these amps a 2-10 w/stereo chorus I really like it but would like to know something about them. Can someone tell me about the Princeton Chorus amps. Is there a difference in the Red and Black knob amps? What years were they made and how to determine the year of manufacture.

Thanks

I have one. I remember reading in the Fender Amp book that they came out in the late 80's early 90's. I bought mine around '93. They were a big hit with Fender and were one of the best sellers at the time. A great value!

I seem to recall also that the red knobs were just for looks. Something that Fender was doing just for the sake of trying something different.

It's a really good amp if you like solid state. Only had to repair it once in the time that I've owned it. The footswitch has always been a little if'ey. I think I've read that that has been a common gripe with customers.

Next time your at a book store check out the Fender Amp book. It has a lot more info.

Thanks for the input. I haven't had this amp long enough to figure out my settings yet but it seems to cover a wide range of sounds. I can't quite get the clean guitar sound out of it I wanted but close, my other amp's a '75 Twin Reverb (I'm the original owner). I tried the #2 input jack and that helped, the OD is very good! Not like so many one trick amps, too bad I'll seldom use it, since I play mostly clean but the other night I set it to a very nice Santana like sustain it also did a pretty good AC 30 tone. I think the OD on these is underratted I found a wide range of options from 60's fuzz tone to metal were possible if you fool with the settings. This amp must be a newer one it's a Made in Mexico and is in perfect condition, liks like it just came off the showroom floor. I really like it for it's size and if it can do the clean Twin thing well, then I won't be lugging the Twin around as much.

Yea, with the options given you can get a lot of good tones. I'm always adjusting. What's really cool is the chorus. Lately I have been able to get a leslie type effect from it. Good for Cream/Clapton parts. Effects loops are pretty nice as well.
