Bill, I didn't make the diagram. From what I gathered it's an extremely simplified explanation that I found on Rig Talk. BVruce Egnater says his board are double sided and I tend to believe him. He really seems proud of the quality of his boards.
Fact is the thin boards without plated through holes in the HRDlx just don't hold up. Speaker efficiency is without a doubt the name of the game. But if all things were equal and both amps were using a speaker with the same efficiency rating, the SPL levels would be much closer and you really wouldn't perceive that big of a difference. I would take and did take 20 watts of great tone over 40 watts of Armageddon fizz tone any day of the week.

Not a criticism, just a clarification. Sometimes explanations are too simplified. :D

Take a look at the circuit board of your Egnater. If you see two independent circuits laid out on either side of the board, it is truly double sided/double layer.

The speaker post was mostly just for fun.

All I know is, my DRRI with its 15-inch JBL D130F (rated at 102 dB at 1W/1M) is more that capable of holding its own against Super Reverbs, Vox AC30TBs, HRDvls, and the like.

One of the advantages of a big, very efficient speaker.

That's why it's in there, Bill.

Nobody squeezes more dB's out of an amp per given watt of RMS power than me!

Still awesome if truly in mint cond! I would highly recommend checking/setting the bias, as these amps are known to be very cold from the factory, I like mine set for 55% to 60%, the amp isn't really designed to handle the excessive heat of a hot bias.

Congrats on your new acquisition, and maybe you could post your thoughts about it and which tubes that you have installed, your bias setting, and the response of the volume pot and master volume pot, etc. I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. I have recently been using Chinese preamp tubes and the stock GT output tubes for a very nice drive channel sound, so I am interested to hear about your tubes and sound and performance. :)

Hey, I have really been digging the amp. I checked the bias and it read about 28 each. The bias I have really been digging. The stock tubes, Chinese power tubes and Russian preamp tubes, sound pretty good.
