anybody else have this amp?

i found one in great shape, and got it for 75 bucks. it's no tube amp, but good enough for my use. and loud - i don't need to get the extension speaker to take it from 100 to 160 watts. it's plenty loud enough without it

any other thoughts you may have?

Matching DT-112, with the same Celestion G12-100T that's in the amp. Adding a second 8Ω load allows the amp to develop 160 watts (it's actually the same chassis as the Stage 160).

arjay actually has & appreciates SS amps? as i suspected, a closet ss fan after all.

i used to have the analog ss-100 with spring reverb tank. i always thought these were the best stage amps fender ever made. the stages were great amps, very gig-worthy, best on cleans & reverb, take pedals very well. crappy overdrive however... nothing a boss pedal doesn't fix.

ciao,
john.

I used to play with the Fender Stage combo, but sold it and bought the (then) soon to be discontinued Stage 100 DSP head, which I use with a Fender GE-412 cabinet. It's a great, powerful amp.

a long time ago, i bought an all analog stage 100 with the reverb tank. it was loud, excellent cleans, great with pedals, but lousy dirt/overdrive. the pedals took care of the dirt/overdrive. then i sold it, i can't remember the reason why, but i regret doing it.

reflecting, it was a great little amp, it had punch, good clean tone, was light weight, very tough & road worthy. at my age, you get to appreciate portability, reliability & consistency a lot, which is what the Stage 100 had, plus good clean tone.

nostalgia talking: i really wish Fender would reissue that great little amp, all analog & with reverb tank. for nostalgia's sake, I would buy it in a heart beat. & i really liked the add-on cab. kinda like a mini marshall stack, and surprising, just as loud.

my 2 cents.

ciao,
johnny.
