I'm sure this has been covered on this board, but I am new so here goes.

Is there an amp that will give me the warm Fender clean tone like the 65' Reissue that I can lift without breaking my back? Maybe under 55 pounds? Everytime I move this thing my back aches afterwards. My Marshall JCM 2000 2X12 has nice grab handles on the sides so it can be a two person affair, but the Twin does not. I play small and medium sized venues so I don't need the 85 watts. I just really like the warm clean sound of the Twin, which is why I bought it. I can still send it back due to Musicians Friend 30 return policy. I think a 1X12 cab is what I need, or a Gorilla for a Rhodie.

Has anyone played with adding grab handles to the side of these amps?

'Nuff said.

I tried a 22 watt 65 Deluxe Reverb reissue today at the local music store, That amp would not cut it, It broke up even with the volume set at 3 on the normal channel. I had to send my 65' Twin back to Musicians Friend, it was just too heavy. You would think they would put handles on the side like Marshall does. That amp sounded great, but if I can't lift it I don't want it, it's that simple. I'm looking into the Mesa Lonestar 1x12 combo for a clean amp that I can lift.

Love my Blues Deluxe Reissue. Retubed with a Phillips JAN 5751 in V1, JJ 12AX7 in V2, JJ 12AT7 in V3, and JJ 6L6GCs biased at about 83 mV (measured at the Fender bias test point) it sounds really sweet and takes pedals well. :D

That looks cool, I'm going to look into that amp. Thanks!! That might do everything I need without breaking my back. I already have a HotRod, it's okay but the Twin sounded much better clean.

I hate to tell ya my friend, but take it from a guy who has tried them all , after the twin reverb you just won't find that clean Punch anywhere else.

I tried DRRI's , Blues Devilles 4x10, 66 vibro champ, early 50's princeton, deville 2x12 and the list goes on and on, the TRRI has sweet tone fantastic clean and POWER !!!! to reach in and grab every sonic piece of every note and throw it down !!!!

Everything else will break up sooner.

I had a few silver face and even a red knob twin that were not too bad, however the TRRI is King, I have not personaly owned a vintage black face twin so I can't compare the TRRI to it.

Closest I've come was a Trainer I should never have parted with, it sounded pretty sweet too. (cant remember the model).

+1 for the TRRI clean sound is unlike anything

but also
+ 1 for the DRRI (I bet that you didn't try it with an extension cabinet and new tubes and bias adjust. )

and I have to admit that the HRDlx was the first amp that popped into my head when you mentioned under 50 pounds, it also has a very nice clean sound, so...

+1 for the BDlx also!

Well, is that confusing enough?

+1, but with one small teeny-tiny caveat.

"Exhibit B"......

Isnt the dual showman the same circuit as the twin ?

And if the DRRI broke up to early for him, don't ya think the Blues amps will be even earlier ?

Not with the tubes that I suggested installed.

The OP has clearly stated in his first post that he wants something lighter and less powerful than a TRRI. Seems to me that would rule out extension cabinets and separate head/cabinet amps.

Indeed -- the only difference is the reverb effect. Of course, the speaker array and their enclosure is entirely different.

I haven't a clue what that's all about. I suspect the OP doesn't either.

Everybody wants a free lunch without regard to the piper who must ultimately be paid.

Big clean tube sound is HEAVY.

Period, end of story, nothing follows.

What I was trying to get at was that the Blues deluxe will have even earlier break up than the DRRI at least from my experience.

and so if the DRRI gets dirty too soon then surely an amp designed for overdrive won't make him happy.

Hard to get clean punch without the weight as Arjay stated earlier.

At least a head and speaker cab gives you a bit of a break on the weight, might be the way to go.

Maybe try a Super Reverb reissue. Still heavier than sin, but the tone may be closer to what you are after...
