Well all of mine get regular "workouts" either on stage, at rehearsal, in a studio, or (when time permits) when jamming informally. I try to keep them on a rotational schedule but I frequently deviate from it since I usually don't decide which amp(s) I'm taking to a particular venue until the moment I start prepping for "deployment". I recently pulled an amp from the active roster to repair some serious structural damage to the speaker baffle but I completed the work this afternoon and everything is once again copacetic with my "herd".

Do they sit unused for months on end?

Well, the upstairs TV gets used maybe once a week for a few hours. It sits unused for weeks sometimes.

The real question is: How long is too long?

Think of the electron flow through an amp's various components as "lubrication". It's why the military mandates regular performance evaluations and inspections of electronic equipment, even during long-term storage.

The prosecution rests.

I guess those electrons can be slippery little devils, sometimes.

The defense would like to call additional witnesses ...... when I can think of some. :D

Eletrolytic cap need to be supply in order to regenerate oxide insulation otherwise the leakage current becomes too high and can damage the cap, especially for old one.
