Hey guys, this is my first post on the Fender Forum. I recently bought a Vibro Champ XD. I freaking love it to death but i think it needs a new speaker. the stock one tends to fart when you crank the clean signal's gain controls, and the overall bass response form a 8inch speaker isnt that great. i was thinking of replacing it with this one

do you guys think it's possible to rout a larger hole in the amp and fit a 10 incher speaker in there? to me it just seems like a question of getting a jigsaw and making the whole a bit bigger.

has anyone ever done this? any recommendation are welcome, i've never modded an amp before.

Some modeling amps perform best with the stock speaker because they are meant to cover the wide range of voicings. I know of some who changed out the VCXD speaker & then put the original back in. Still, try it....you might like the results. YMMV.

In all honesty, you're better off buying an external cab with the speaker of your choice (both brand and size) and connecting it to your VCXD in lieu of the stock OEM speaker.

I'm not certain that your amp's cab will accommodate a 10-inch speaker and even if it does and it turns out the Jensen P10R does not "float your boat", you'll never be able to re-install the original driver (thus, your warranty will be forever voided).
