I went through a recent major overhaul of my gear.

The change was all based on the glory of the FSR DRRI. The looks were more than I could decline, and if the tone was adequate (never mind great) I'd be happy.

The amp itself sounds great. I've had a DRRI in-room before, but I always felt it got a bit too loud at 3+ on the volume knob. This version can go to the threshold of 5 because of the less efficient speaker.

Within 72 hours of buying the amp, my old amp and two guitars were gone, and their replacements were summoned. Out went a great EC Strat, and a 2010 SG that was the best non CS Gibson I've ever owned by a longshot. For some reason the SG simply did not get along with the DRRI.

In came: The DRRI and...
A '57AVRI Strat and a '52 Telecaster. Needless to say, the musicality of this setup rivals just about anything I've had. With the help of some Wampler pedals, I'm liking my tone more today than the days when I thought I had the best Marshall-type amp I could afford.

This is now Fender Territory!

Looks very nice. Fender territory indeed! Except for the intruders on the window sill! :D

Wow, what a great haul. 8)

That little trio would relieve even the most deadly serious case of GAS.

The best part is that the total cost of the swap-out was less than the cost of a MIM Std. Strat or Tele!

Tough to call it an upgrade because an equal number of people would likely prefer the old equipment.

I found a local guy that was selling some of his collection unadvertised. That's where the Tele (2003) and this '71 SFDR that my friend bought came from.

DR vs DR: I think his has a bit more "sonic bloom", but I like mine in-room because it's a bit smaller and that color combo just rocks!

I'm doubtful about that SFDR being a '71......

I thought that's what the seller told him...

It does not have a push-pull, and after a day of A/B-ing I can say it's better than mine.

Surprisingly smooth...Completely room-filling three-dimensionality. very nice stuff. I'd trade him without hesitation!

The grill cloth has the rust/orange stripe typical of the '74 through '77 models. The push-pull boost switch showed up around '75 or '76. A check of the serial number and a look at the tranny numbers will determine the pedigree.
