Hello. It's been a while since I've been on the forum, but I encountered a problem today with my Blues Junior, and right before a gig. What timing. When i turned the amp on, I waited for it to warm up, and I got no sound. I played my guitar and nothing came out. I checked everything I could. Later, I tried again and still nothing, but when i turned the amp up really far (12s on master and volume) I got a quiet, slightly distorted sound. I'm guessing this could just be worn out tubes as I've been playing through this amp for about a year and a half. I gig regularly, about once a week. I don't usually blast it, but I have a couple times in larger venues when i could've used a bigger amp. Please let me know what you think.

Hi regmeister5,

Maybe a bad preamp tube. Are all tubes glowing (lit up), indicating the filaments (heaters) are working? Double check that all tubes are fully seated, as sometimes with travel, the tubes can come loose from the sockets. If tubes are all seated and glowing, turn the amp off, try exchanging each of the three small tubes, one at a time, if you have a known good spare. Then try the same with the output tubes, but both should be changed if one is bad.

Start with the tubes. 90% of tube amp problems come from the tubes.

If the tube slides in and out of it's socket really easily it may be a good time to get the tube sockets re-tensioned.
