Hi guys, I have Princeton 65 DSP amp, the channel selector switch is busted. I have a Fender (Chorus) footswitch my cousin gave it to me..so now Im using it to select channels...but It seems that the DSP effects is disabled...How an I override this? Thanks! Im trying to find a 2 botton footswitch here but...its damn hard to find!! Why is it that the DSP effects get disabled?

I dont plan on replacing the Push button switch..I took the top of the switch off and just left the soldered base..what should I do to get the DSP signals working again? any Quick Solder fix? THANKS

Hi chichi,

Not all foot switches are interchangeable, some won't work well on the wrong amp. Do your DSP effects work without the foot switch plugged in, or are you saying that the switch on the amp is busted?

Hi Shim,

Yes the Push button channel switch is busted...and it shut down the DSP effects altogether....is there some overide thing I could solder..so i could get the DSP signal through? I dont mind using the footswithc to change channels..as long as I can use the onboard DSP effects...

Before it got busted, the dsp effects cut out when I use the footswitch..Im pretty sure its not the right one for my amp..but its impossible to find one here so..this has to do for now...

Now without the footswitch I only have clean tone without DSP :-(

I hope someone could help me with some quick fix to overide the signal thats blocking the dsp effects to work

You have two independent issues to deal with -- more serious is the push-button switch on the front panel. If you feel confident in your technical abilities, open the amp up to expose the chassis then try to locate a Fender part number stamped somewhere on the reverse side of the broken switch. Once you have it identified, it'll be much easier to track down a replacement. Be certain that the amp is powered down and unplugged before proceeding.

The 3-button footswitch for the Princeton 65 DSP is still listed as available from Fender. It carries this model number -- "0055592000" -- and has an MSRP of $71.99 USD. I believe it looks like this......

You need to find out what's in the amp before you order anything. It's possible, nigh likely, that the OEM switch was designed specifically for Fender -- thus a "generic" replacement may not be appropriate.

I see.

You might try contacting Steve at Angela Instruments......

http://angela.com/

He's very knowledgeable, stocks a vast parts inventory, and ships worldwide.

Explain your situation the give him the model number and year of your amp. It's an even-money bet that he may have the switch you need.

That's the best I can come up with in this situation -- hope it works out for you.

+1 Retroverbial,

Looking at the schematic for the Princeton 65 DSP, the foot switch is shown as a two-button, part number 0057664000. It's possible that the three-button foot switch will work, not sure. Just a thought. But, the foot switch will take the place of the amp's internal switch, so if you get the correct foot switch, you can postpone replacing the amp's internal switch.

yup guys, Ill see if I could find that two button switch..or 3 button switch...myabe I can ask my friends from the US to help me get one when they go back for a vacation...Actually Its much more practical than getting the internal channel switch redone..at least you can control the amp by foot....

Maybe shoot Fender an email to verify the correct foot switch part number, and ask if the two-button and three-button switches will both work with your amp. I think that the three-button switch is for the chorus version, but it might still work with your amp. Maybe they can even tell you where to get the switch that's in the amp.

thanks, guys...I think I definitely got to find the footswitch..I was playing around last night and I got to switch the DSP effects on by touching the tip of the stereo jack to the other jack thats plugged in the footswitch slot.weird..I can even use my other guitars pickup selector as footswitch..hahaha..Im planing to build one..since Im really bored here..I just need to figure out the correct wiring..to get all the channels and effects running...Im also gonna try to find that channel select button here..anyway..lets see how my adventure goes

Let us know how things work out for you, the info could be useful to others. :)

Just want to be sure that you looked at the schematic and verify the model amp that you have, it shows the foot switch too.

http://support.fender.com/schematics/guitar_amplifiers/Princeton_65_DSP_schematic.pdf

The Chorus model schematic shows the three-button switch wiring and components for comparison, and you may be able to easily modify the three-button switch to work with your amp, without having to buy any additional parts, if you have good soldering/de-soldering skills.
