I can't find any discussion about the Fender Stage 112SE combo amp. I have just acquired one that is fully functional. Does anyone here in Fenderland have any experience using this amp? Is there is anything I should look out for? Does anyone know when were they made? It looks just like the two-speaker Stage 212SE that seems remarkably like the Frontman 212R. Did the Frontman series replace the Stage series? Thanks.

I have a Stage 100 DSP which is similar in most respects to the 112SE (less the digital effects module). These amps first appeared in the mid '90s in various guises -- several combos and head/cab configurations. I've owned mine since '07 and it's been a pretty good piece of gear. Decent tone, loud (extremely), and very portable. Here it is, shown with the optional DT-112 extension cab......

The extension cab adds a second Celestion G12-100T and allows the amp to develop 160 watts (identical to the Stage 160 2 x 12 combo).

Arjay,

Thanks for the info. Nice setup. I guess the same 112 extension cab would work with mine as well as yours? If I ever need more volume. It's good to know yours isn't causing you any trouble and you like the sound.

Thanks,

Noel

If your amp has an extension speaker jack, that's one of the recommended enclosures (the other is the DT-412).

The amp's been solid thus far but I know that should something catastrophic occur, I might be left "high and dry" since many of the parts for these amps are no longer available.

Back in the 90s I was using the Stage 112SE in my band and the amp was nothing short of incredibly loud for it's size. As I recall (dimly) I traded the Combo in on a Fender Roc-Pro head and GT-412 speaker cabinet. Later I purchased the Stage 100 DSP head and another GT-412 cabinet for it. Not sure why I traded the little combo off, but I think at the time I was looking for easier (and somewhat quieter) distortion.

Here's the Stage 100 DSP head sitting on a Cyber-Deluxe sitting on the Fender GT-412.

Arjay and Dennis,

Thanks to you both. Am I correct that Fender have placed the Frontman 212R where the Stage 212SE used to be in the lineup? Has the Frontman series replaced the Stage series?

I know there is a Fender "look" but these two amps (and the Stage 112SE) look just like each other. Should I assume there is little or no parts interchangability?

I'm doubtful that there's any logistical commonality between the two amps, aside from the logo screwed on the baffle board.

The Stage 100 was built in Ensenada, Mexico while the Fu Manchu amps hail from the Peoples' Republic of China -- no comparison at all, at least in my book.

Then it matches my 2001 MIM Strat. Thanks Arjay.
