Hi there,

I was wondering whether anyone could help me...I've got a Twin re-issue, and the reverb channel has some kind of whistling/electrical sound when I turn up the reverb dial. Otherwise the amp is fine and plays brilliantly, the problem only occurs when I play with reverb.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks,

Greg

I would first try changing the reverb tubes the 3rd to the right and the 4th to the right it's a 12at7 and a 12ax7 with well know good tubes and see if the problem dissappears

Okay so I changed the tubes as suggested, and no luck. Then I removed every tube individually and tested to see where the noise was coming from but couldn't see any difference.

All of the tubes are glowing though, but the noise only comes when the reverb channel is turned up. Is there anything else I could try?

Thanks in advance for your help

Is the whistling present with the footswitch unplugged?

How about the cables to the reverb tank -- are they correctly phased?

Was this amp bought used? Is the reverb tank in a bag? Also, when you check the plugs, as Arjay suggested, pull the tank out of the bag and check to see if the rubber "weather stripping" in the tank seems ok. Springs seem ok? And connected at the center? And the tiny wired transducers are on their metal tabs tightly (there is one on each side of the spring's length)?

And does the tank have a serial number? Like 4AB3C1B, or some such set of numbers?

Good luck with that!
