That's an easy fix though.

Indeed.

I used to jam periodically with a guy who had one of those Delta Blues 30 amps (big tweed thing, TV-front, 4 x EL84, 1 x 15). The OEM speaker was some lameass POS but we managed to find a vintage 16Ω teal-frame C15N for it -- it sounded so much smoother and more organic, along the lines of a Fender 5E5 Pro Amp.

I own a Peavey Classic 50 & it's a GREAT amp. My son has the Peavey Bandit which sounds really good for a solid state amp. I love the clean tones of the Fender DRRI, but the Peavey Classic has a nice tone that is all it's own. I've never had a problem with mine & in the "reliability" category I'd say that US made Peavey's beat most big named manufacturers.

Some Peaveys are imports. The solid state amps, the 112 6505, Valve King, Vypyr, & Windsor are not US made last I looked. However, the cool thing about Peavey is that when it comes to their imported amps, the fair price reflects the fact that it's imported. They don't throw together cheap amps for low labor & charge high prices based on their name. If you buy a cheaply made Peavey, odds are good that you won't spend much money on it.

You can buy a quality US made Peavey Classic series amp for the same price or less than many cheaply made import amps from other companies that are trying to coast on their big NAMES...

Peaveys are a great option for a gigging musician who doesn't want to, or maybe can't drop a lot of money on a name. "Old" Marshalls & Fenders have definitely cemented their reputation as "cream of the crop", but in terms of new amps made today, US Peavey's are tough to beat when it comes to being dependable & affordable.

Seriously, well said. I forgot all about the SS amps. All the Peaveys I've played were from the ancient times when even the SS amps were made here. Still great amps. Funny thing is, it seems the imports are built way better when a real or living person name is attached to the amp. Hartley Peavey, and Bruce Egnater quickly come to mind in the realm of quality made imported production amps. There are many different levels of quality coming out of China and you pretty much get what you pay for.

Thanks guys. Good point about Hartley & Bruce too! You can get some pretty good production stuff from each of them for realistic prices.

I have a Peavey Mace VT Series and a 1980s Peavey Studio Pro, and I LOVE the way my Tele sounds through them! Peavey makes great amps!

a) Fender amps are better than Peavey amps. Reliability wise and tone wise. IMO.
b) Peavey doesn't make their amps in USA anymore I don't think. I'd be really surprised if they still do.
c) That said TransTube is cool.

Some are made here some aren't, but that goes for Fender too. The only real reliable Fender amps besides SF and BF are the reissues. They've been really lacking in reliability in their middle of the road AKA HRD and VM stuff. After what I went through, I should have bought a Classic or Delta 30 and been done with it. The HRD series is far from the Fender sound and reliability I used in 60's to the present. And yeah, the Trans Tube stuff is pretty cool.

It stinks my next musical purchase may be off in a distance... That classic 30 may have to wait a bit... :?

Good news I'm a sure pic for another job this summer. I just need to talk to both my bosses about scheduling hours. Hopefully two jobs will help me rake in some dough...

I currently have a Delta Blues and just love it . But Arjay and Supro now you have me thinking "could it possibly sound better?"

What would your choice be for a replacement 15" speaker in this device??

I have a C30. I replaced the speaker with a Jensen Neo. Sounds great. Peavey C30 is a great value. The only problem is that they are difficult to work on - as pointed out by one of the early responses to this thread. But that is the trade off for the low cost. Given a little luck and some tender loving care, you won't need much work.

I owned one in 1978 or 9, a second hand rougly 30W SS combo (I don't remeber which model). I never have any issue during 2 years of use.

So did Weber pick up where American Jensens fell off? I remember a long time ago reading a guitar magazine that mentioned the "return" of Jensen Loudspeakers?

Would there be a Weber speaker I should avoid? They seem pretty decent in prices (though the prices range from $40-200+) should I avoid the cheaper ones?
