Hey all!

I am using a rented Fender HRD 1x12 on tour, and wanted to put my TC Nova Modulator and Digitech Timebender into the effects loop. I can't seem to get it to work.

To test it, I plugged my guitar into the amp input, and an OCD overdrive pedal into the loop. I put the input of the pedal into Preamp Out and the output into Power Amp In. This worked fine, the guitar came through, and you could hear the effect of the OCD when turned on and off.

But when I tried the same thing with the Nova or the Timebender it didn't work, just killed the output completely. No sound at all, until I unplugged the cables from the effects loop. I tried each pedal on it's own, and the 2 of them linked together. Neither worked.

Am I doing something wrong? I want to run my guitar into the tuner and OD pedals, and then put the Nova Mod and Timebender pedals into the loop. How would I set that up?

It's kind of just an experiment at the moment. I used to use a G System, and effects definitely sounded better in the effects loop.

Cheers!

Hi paulhodgson,

If the OCD works fine in the loop, and the other pedals do not, I would say that the loop is fine and you either have the Nova or the Timebender pedals hooked up backwards or they don't like the loop for some reason (batteries good, switched on?). Have you tried the Nova and Timebender into the input jack to see if they work there? There are some effects that just don't work well, or at all, in the loop. I only use the Preamp Out of my HRDlx loop for a tuner, you really don't need/want the tuner in the signal path anyway.

The pedals definitely had power, they worked fine straight into the amp. I'm sure there's something simple I am missing, will try again today in soundcheck.
Cheers!

I was doing (smokin') something weird last night too, was there a funky, smoky smell in your room last night as well? JK! Glad it works, HRDlx amps rule! :D
