Eddie money - two tickets to paradice

zz top - la grange
social distortion - story of my life
van halan - runnig with the devil
bad company - feel like making love
judas priest - breaking the law
Bush - little things

im looking for a distortion pedal. I currently have a classic over drive mxr, a cry baby.

I play a hss stra

What is the best distortion pedal for me? I want that juicy marshall distortion. But in a pedal for my develle.

Try a Pro Co Rat or a Digitech Bad Monkey.

Use it with your clean channel only. For a pure, compressed, slightly over-driven vintage tube tone, the Fulltone OCD will deliver.

I really love my Fulltone Full Drive - 2 MOSFET. The range of available tones is amazing.

Metal usually requires something with higher gain. Works great for everything else.

if your using stock preamp tubes those are a bit lower in gain, Try some Electro harmonix

You need to decide.

Besides the pedal, try a set of JJ's. Go to www.eurotubes.com and find a set to suit your taste. I'd also check the bias. The HRD amps are usually biased really cold and the distortion channel is like an icepick in the forehead. You can tame it a bit, but I don't think it will ever sound natural.A t least my HRDlx didn't and neither has any I've ever played.

I would strongly recommend the following new production tube changes;
v1-Tung-Sol reissue 12ax7
v2-Tung-Sol or stock GT 12ax7 is OK
v3-12AT7. Nos Jan-Phillips is best and cheap

6L6 Power tubes; Not alot of experience with these. Maybe the US made GT's are good, but I have never tried them. I have used EH's and thought they were pretty good as well. JJ makes a good tube, so I would think their 6L6 would be good as well.

I made these same pre-amp changes in my blues Jr and it sounded like I modded it. Makes a HUGE difference.

At the very least, buy the Tung-Sol 12ax7 and the JAN-Phillips 12AT7. You may find the stock OD much more to your liking.

I usually buy from http://www.tubedepot.com, but you can get MF to pricematch and get free shipping for the Tung-Sol. MF won't carry the NOS JAN-Phillips.

Good luck!
