Thanks Budglo,

Your saying what I thought the concensus would be.......I wish I had bought the Deluxe Reverb instead of the the Twin, I was being naustalgic that day.thinking of my 1970's rock & roll days, lots of volumn .

Never playing through an acoustic amp myself.................does anyone have opinion on acoustic amps...........We play mostly acoustic/electric guitars but maybe 10-15% electric thrown in here and there.
I'm sitting here playing my Taylor nylon string through my Twin right now and can't imaging an Acoustasonic sounding any better same whith my Taylor 810 steel string.
And of course my ES 335 style 35 year old Pearly Gates Epiphone sounds like the Twin was made for it.
My question remains is an acoutic amp really needed ? I like the idea of a nice 12" Jensen of the Deluxe .

Thanks for all the input.
Fred

I have three different acoustic amps - a Fender Acoustasonic Jr, an Acoustic and I just picked up the Marshall AS50R used at the local Music-Go-Round. The Acoustasonic is a marvelous amp, twin 8" speakers and tweeter with two separate channels and 2 x 40W amps - lots of EQ and DSP effects. I play mostly Ovation A/E guitars and this amp sings. I bought the Acoustic for its smaller size, but still 2 channels and nice effects. The Marshall 50W is a size between the other two, also boasts twin 8" speakers with reverb and chorus. I bought it at a great price just for the heck of it.

I think an acoustic amp delivers just what it says - great acoustic sounds that really bring out the best in an acoustic-electric guitar. Sometimes during practice I just play through a regular Fender amp so I know what it sounds like, but most of the time I use an acoustic for the extra tweaking ability. With the Acoustasonic I can use an A-B-Y switch and set up the two channels differently, then foot switch back and forth between the two, depending on the song selection.

It ain't a Fender, but an SWR Strawberry Blonde I got nearly 15 years ago, still sounds very nice. Lots of knobs to twists depending on pickup/mike and place you are using the guitar. (mine is a HD28).

I have heard many nice sounding acoustic amps. I play 80 to 100 acoustic solo shows yearly. I have always plugged straight into the PA system. To my ears, going straight through the PA sounds really good & I like the simplicity of not carrying another amp that I don't need.
