No bias adjustment required with these single-ended amps. They are cathode (self) biasing. Plug in whatever brand sounds pleasing to your ear.

So which tubes should I but for the Champion? 12ax7wa/wb/wc? Come to think of it there is a whole bunch of different numbers at the end of tubes. Does any 12ax7 regardless of the letters at the end of it would still be compatible with the amp?.

Hi Noobish3000,

I liked the 12AX7WA preamp tube, and the Chinese output tube that came stock with mine. A 12AX7WC preamp tube will give a little more breakup. I tried a JJ and an EH for the output tube, and both were cleaner/clearer sounding and a little less volume than the stock Chinese tube. I also tried a 6L6 for the output tube, and the sound was very clean and warm, and the loudest of all the tubes. The C600 seems to handle the extra filament current of the 6L6 quite well. Some of these amps came with a Chinese output tube and some came with an EH. But, like Retroverbial pointed out, use whatever sounds best to you. If you really want some sound from that little amp, try unplugging the 6 inch internal speaker, and plug the amp into an external 12 inch speaker.....wow! Removing the back panel makes changing tubes and plugging in other speakers easier, as it is difficult to use both hands to access things through that small hole. :)
