Mhh I guess I'll have to get me a spare Cybertwin SE if it is true...... Didn't see any response from Fender here though..

The CT complex ? Sorry, but I fail to see the complexity, but maybe the fact that I'm an IT guy and a IBM Iseries addict is a reason for that. I tried numerous modeling amps etc, but found myself selling them pretty fast. I never came around one that stood it's ground against my Cybertwin SE. Most important thing to remember when playing around with a CT's settings is to listen well get a feeling for what other settings will do with your sound, just like you know beforehand what the treble setting change will do to the sound of f.i a SuperReverb.

I have heard complaints about the long time it takes to tweak a CT to ones likings, but people tend to forget how much time they spend on a pedalboard/tube amp setup (over time) A CT may take longer, but I feel strongly it's worth your while :D

I would love to get me a Super Reverb and I own one of those little Blackhearts ( didn't take me long to heat up my soldering iron and mod the blackheart though) Still The CT will be my main amp for a long long time to go.

If it's true, shame on you Fender

It is all about what the market wants.
I have purchased four used ct's over the years and two of them for under 400 bucks.
One of them on e-bay was 375.00 including shipping, the auction ended at 2:00 am on a monday night, Go figure ! (not the brightest seller).
the last one I bought was a craigs list deal at 375.00 in perfect condition , with cover and both footswitches.

The point is you can't hardly give them away in the used market for over $400 and it originaly cost 1200, pretty poor return on the original investment !!!
So how do you suppose fender could continue to sell new ones at any kind of profit margins worth looking at if the used ones are that cheap???

Meanwhile, the '65 Vibro Champ which -- when new -- sold for $89 commands upwards of six hundred bucks today. One needn't be a rocket surgeon to figure out that math -- and the reasons for it.

It would be cool to really get hands on with an CT though, and hey, maybe if I found one for a good price I could buy one.

+1 to the showman too. I've always wanted to try out one of those too.

Then you'd be a fool not to buy all that you can find on C/L for five hundred bucks a pop. There are several available in the Phoenix area at this very moment -- think of the profit potential!

See?

You already have a $60,000 "portfolio"!

No 12b-1's, no redemption fees, no tax liability.

Me?

I only invest in sure things. Like Krugerrands. And vintage blackfaces.

and so your living on a beach, dressed in a speedo well below the crack line, surrounded by ..., a glenlivet in one hand, a strat in the other, on your own private beach, with your own private Global Express, gee i wish i was as sharp as an investor like you...

NYC and all the schmoes around here ain't sooo bad either... just watchin the bull_s in the NYSE... i would however, advise a more sensible portfolio, widely diversified, in "blue chip", high dividend yielding stock with strong sales fundamentals and solid financial footings. given the debt load, i would speculate inflationary pressures. trouble is interest rates never quite match the loss caused by inflation. indeed, prices are rising. funny thing about gold i have come to observe over the years: fools rush in where fools have been before. but what the hey, what ever makes you happy.

for the newcommer to investing - do yourself a favor and watch mad money for at least a year before you jump into the markets, and find a broker you can really, really have some faith in. some are thieves with a brief case, buyer beware.

so we have digressed some since arjay is such an avid investor. good to know his crack is showing.

ciao,
john.

Indeed.

So "avid" I retired at age 51 with zero debt load, a mortgage-free home, cash instruments now totalling modestly in excess of six figures, and a federally-guaranteed pension annuity of $32.5k/yr (adjusted annually for inflation).

Recession? Who gives a fook?

Retroverbial,

Was thinking of changing my name to Kato, you got an unused basement or guest house?

As you prefer. I'll move on now and let you and fans of the Cyber Twins world-wide (all two or three of them) have your lovefest.

Let us know when you actually play one on stage.

By the way, Buddy Guy no longer uses Cyber Twins. He plays through two of these:
