The light in my jewel light sags with my playing, when I hit it hard on low strings the intensity drops and returns after the hit. Is this a sign of anything important?

It might be a case of tube-rectifier envy

Check to ensure that the bulb is fully seated in the socket. It's also possible that the bulb filaments are close to the end of their life. Pilot lamps frequently burn out with use. I buy mine by the 10-pack on Ebay.
