Sounds interesting

I don't know about "SRV tone", but I use a Phillips JAN 5751 in V1 of my Blues Deluxe Reissue (JJ 12AX7/V2, JJ 12AT7/V3, and JJ 6L6GC/V4/V5). I use it (along with the 12AT7) primairly to lower the overall gain of the amp, but I do find that I prefer the sound of the 5751 to a 12AX7 in V1. V1 is the usual recommendation for the position of the 5751, not V2.

Well that was the recommendation from Torres engineering,
Being that v1 is channel 1 and v2 is trem channel.
But even so cedar answered my question about clean vs
Breakup.

Actually, we are both right.

Even though my BDRI is advertised as a "2-channel" amp, it really isn't. In my case, V1 is the first tube in the entire amp chain. In the case of the 65 DRRI, V1 is the first tube in the normal channel preamp chain, and V2 is the first tube in the vibrato channel preamp chain. So the correct statement would be to use the 5751 as the first tube of the preamp chain, which depending on the preamp and channel configuration could be V1, V2, or Vn.

I said I use the 5751 (along with the 12AT7 PI) to reduce the overall amp gain which does in fact increase clean headroom.

Certain things have come up , that has slowed my tube purchasing
Progress,
I decided on this list of tubes
V1,V2 TAD 7025
V3,V6 mullard ecc81 with one balanced for PI
V4 TAD 7025, V5 will probably get one 12ax7 from the amp

V7,V8 TAD 6V6s figure since their 10 bucks more than
The tungsol, I owe cedarblues a report.
V9 the sovtek 5AR4/GZ34
Lemme know what you guys think.

Looking good! Can't wait to hear what you think of the tone... don't forget to get a bias done.

i just ordered this biasing probe
http://www.amp-head.com/product_info.ph ... ucts_id=73

i must say, it has fender GT series of tubes and sounds this good, Xcept the faltulant tones that seem to be increasing, that has your neighborhood gastroenterologist scratching their heads.

ive been reding good reviews on the TAD 6v6s, and the TAD 7025. so that with mullard 12at7 including one balanced for the PI is gonna make this amp.
sovtek GZ34 for the rectifier tubes.

now i need a cheap multimeter

This full-featured DVM is relatively inexpensive......

The data-hold function is particularly useful.

I'd be interested in what you find using this probe.
How well it worked for you and such...

I'd be interested in what you find using this probe.
Has 2 switches, 1 for tube 1 and tube 2,
The other for biasing and plate voltage readings,

I will make a separate thread, on retubing and biasing this
Amp, that way i get feedback on correct VP readings
Correct settings on bias according to which 6v6s I use.
How well it worked for you and such...
