OK folks here comes another 5E3 Tweed Deluxe build. I started on this today, prepared the cabinet for lacquering, drilled the chassis mounting holes and checked off the inventory. This time around I've included some different Filter (F&T) and tone caps (Sprague Orange Drops).

Here's some pics to get the build started.

Prepared for lacquering and holes drilled for mounting the chassis.

Inventory of parts, just getting everything ready is exciting!

A few different parts this time.

Next up will be the lacquering of the cab to give it some extra Mojo. Stay Tuned.

The kit is the 5E3 Tweed Deluxe kit from The Tube Depot. I've built one of these kits previously and it provides a lot of satisfaction and a fantastic sounding amp to reward the effort put into it.

I managed to complete the cabinet today. As far as details on how I do the lacquering, and this may sound crazy but, I have found that using an airbrush to spray the Shellac gives me the best results, it allows very fine control of how much coating is applied and also allows the ability to get very even application and blend the colour in different areas for smooth results.

I ended up with about 6 light coats on to get the final colour.

Here's the pics.

6 light coats later.

That itch must be contageous, 'cause I'm getting it too! I'd like to make my DRRI into a head and 2x12 cab.
