I just picked up a new Super-Sonic about 4 days ago. For a reason Im not sure of, the speakers pops loudly when I shut the power off. Wether I put it on standby first, or unplug the input, or turn all the volumes down. Is this supposed to happen? I doesnt sound like it should and I dont wanna blow the speaker.

Thanks

I got a super sonic in January
At rehearsal, the other guitarist let's me use his so I don't have to carry mine around. (He uses his Deluxe Reverb at rehearsal)
BOTH SUPER SONICS POP
I put amp in standby first, wait, then power off. Doesn't seen as bad. (Or maybe I'm just getting used to it)

When I turn on, Power on first, wait till tubes heat up, then switch standby to ON.

How do you like yours?
I love mine. :D

A lot of times it is the switch in these amps. Don't worry about it though. It causes no harm.

Not all will. I have some amps that do and some that don't. In my experience of repairing many amps it is the stand by switch shorting slingly when turning it off. No biggy and can be fixed easy if it bothers you.

It doesnt bother me. I just wanted to make sure it was alright for the amp to do that. Mine doesnt it on standby, but every once in a while it goes on stand by and then off without a sound.

Yep mine does the same thing, it seems to help if I
strum the strings then turn it down and right off.............
These are very sweet sounding amps!
I have noticed that the Blonde color sounds a
little better than the black ones ;)

Depending on what tube you want to achieve, the following tube swap "fender-ized" my Super-Sonic even more than original stock tubes:

TAD 6L6WGC-STR for power tubes - they gave a real nice "vintage -fender-ish tone. This is a very accurate description of what there did for me: http://thetubestore.com/tad-6l6wgc.html

V1 - I kept the stock tube - I felt it worked best in that position, which is the Input stage. I tried JJ's, Electro Harmonix, other SOvtek. Stock worked best in combinaison with V2 & V3 to my ears.
V2 - used for the clean channel, I use a Tung SOl 12AX7 re-issue - WOW, what a diffferent to the Vibrolux and Bassman voicing. It added more beef to the Vibrolux at lower volume and more blance/clarity in the notes in the bassmans
V3 - Used for the burn channel - My complaint was that there was too much gain for my taste coming out. I wanted a "cranked 65 Deluxe reverb " type of gain at lowre gain 1 and gain 2 setting. I have out a JAN-Philips 5751 tubes in V3 - this tube has abOut 70% gain output when compared to a 12ax7, and does exactly what I was hoping for.
