Yup, that's the one. Is this the part where you tell me what "good tone" is and what I should and shouldn't like?

The USA made v-16 and v-32 are both great sounding amps.
I've replaced far more input jacks and pots on Blues jr's than just about anything out there.

Crate is an easy target for the haters. why ?, most of them are garbage ! no question.
The older USA made stuff was just as good as the hotrod series from fender, I just happen to think they had better sounding overdrive.

I like the peavey vintage 30, 50 etc..... too

I do my best these days to stay away from amps with tube sockets mounted to flimsy pcb boards.

actually no. if you like it thats all that matters in my opinion. personally i didnt care for this amp demo and wouldnt trade it over the Blues jr, but thats me. i do like crate and in many of my posts ive defended them when everybody else was kicking them down. however, the crates i liked best were the SS amps in the 80's.
whatever bug got into crates company i wish they had done something about it way back then a little sooner. i felt that they were on their way to really becoming something.
in the SS world they held their own in the top five, peavey being #1 in the 80s by a long shot. crate had a twin i believe it was that had all these multi colored knobs. man i wanted one of those real bad. the distortion was amazing, and it let you pull off pick and trem harmonics like crazy. line up 20 metal guitar players in your area and peavey and crate took the majority. i didnt like the demo on the video that you suggested. i have learned from my own experiences that a lot of the times its the person doing the demo thats screwing it up for me. i might have to find one to see it in person. it just has that
"airy" sound to me. i dont know any other way to explain it.
