Greetings all!

I've read many posts that state people have upgraded their Fender Super Champ XD speaker with the Eminence Patriot Series Ragin Cajun Guitar Speaker. Has anyone upgraded their speaker with Eminence Texas Heat Guitar Speaker?

The difference between the speaker is 150 Watts capacity for the Texas Heat vs the 75 Watts for the Ragin Cajun. I'm not sure if there will be any difference in a 15 Watt amp.

Also, what are the preferred tube upgrades for this amp?

Thanks!

The Texas Heat speaker is a 12 inch so will not fit into the superchamp stock cabinet. JJ power tubes work nicely with the SCXD.

Perhaps the stock speaker is worth keeping for a while especially if you're under warranty. Fender engineers may have put a lot of R&D in choosing the speaker they feel gets the best sounds for all the models (voices) they try to emulate along with the effects. If you change the speaker you will improve certain sounds of the amp on some models, and degrade the sound of other models depending what speaker is installed. If you are truly dissatisfied with your current stock speaker after breaking it in, you could ask fender engineers what speaker they recommend for the models you are trying to improve. Another option is to plug in to a different speaker cabinet with a 12”, that will really change your sound. It would be a waist of time and money to install a speaker you didn’t like, void the warranty, and have to change it out again.

I installed a ragin cajun in my Princeton reverb and was dissatisfied with the results. Some people rave about the ragin cajun and how great it sounds in there Princeton reverb, but I don’t like it. However, it came from my frontman 25r where it did sound decent so no money wasted.

I put an Eminence RC in my SCXD and liked it. However I also wanted something that was gig worthy for small venues so I added a 12' Eminence C-Rex in a 1X12 cab. all I can say wow! Can't say enough good things about the C-Rex for this amp.

As far as the wattage thing goes. Wattage ratings are all about heat dissipation. It's only a bad thing if you don't have enough of them. The sensitivity rating is whats important to tone. More sensitive = louder.

Nice looking stack -- the Tele is a sweet one too!

For a more traditional vibe you might also try Weber's Blue Pup in the amp and a Blue Dog in the extension cab.

Thanks

Sorry I took so long to answer. It's and 06 Special Edition Koa with matte black guard and Gotoh Modern bridge. I've been liking it so much that it's pretty well replaced my American Standard as my main Tele.
