After many years of playing electric guitar, I finally got my first Fender guitar amp. (I once owned a Fender Bassman head and 15" Fender speaker cab - but that was for bass.) I've been using Marshalls, Voxes, Soldanos and Ampegs and they all sounded great in their own ways, but... my best friend had a 67 Silverface Deluxe Reverb and I loved the sound - so I decided to go for a RI 65 Blackface. Fantastic decision! She arrived today and sounded very, very good with the stock tubes - but after replacing V1 and V2 with some NOS GE 7025's and V6 with a NOS Valvo 12AT7 and putting in a pair of NOS RCA 6V6's she absolutely sings! Good Lord, what a fantastic amp! Cannot wait to try her with the '52 Tele RI guitar that is on the way. Thank you Fender!!!

The DRRI has that effect. I fell in love with a Yamaha RGX A2 but it sounds a bit cold and digital through most amps, but absolutely warms up and explodes through the DRRI. Them dang 6V6s are magic. That's why the SCXD sounds so good--finally the alchemy of the 6V6 is made affordable and a whole new generation of working musicians can afford to sound AMAZING.

Hey guys, I'm right there with you on the DRRI... best amp I have ever owned, and the only one I play now.

Ever notice how it sounds better the longer you have it on? Once it gets nice and warm, it really sounds fantastic.

And pedals sound great through it...

Enjoy!

Congrats on your new amp. The '65 DRRI is a great amp. I to put new tubes in my and the thing rocked. Hell with the stock tubes it rocked. Great little camp for not a lot of coin.

I have a 65 Deluxe reverb that came with the blond tolex and a reddish/brown grill cloth. The paper work I have has it as type: PR239, serial # is BLD011XX. I have not seen another like it. It is a great sounding amp. Is it rare or am I just not seeing them.

What overdrive pedal would you suggest for the DRRI?

Lots of OD pedals work well with a DRRI.

TS9, SD-1, OCD, BD-2... they're all good flavors.

:D Congrats....I got mine about two weeks ago and simply love it. What blew me away was how all notes are crisp and clean on both channels, even with the stock tubes.

Played together with a drummer today with the amp volume at like 8 and now I realize that I will never need a overdrive, at least not when I'm playing with my band because the brake up was soo sweet with the guitar straight into the amp! Amazing!!! :D

Hell yeah man. Congrats!! I love my Reissues. I have 3 vintage amps and the RI series are great amps out of the box and even better with little tube upgrades.
