Can anyone suggest settings for a mellow jazz sound?

I use a BDRI (same amp generation as HRdLx) with a Ephi Casino equipped with "flat" strings for jazz with P90 pick-ups. Those strings made a very warm sound. The set up on the BDRI is clean channel volume 2 to 3 (depending of the room), trebble around 1 to 2, medium to the middle and bass adjustment depending of resonnance, the reverb (not modified) at 2 makes the brightness. It sounds not bad even if I think that the Casino is not the perfect match for swing. The BDRI is really perfect with my Tele to play other styles.

Hi Woody52,

Tough question, not enough info! Which HRd do you have? What type of guitar are you using?

For Jazz sound, I assume that you want very clean sound, without much mids. For all models, try turning the mid pot way down to about 2 or less, with the bass at 8, and treble at 7, and adjust to taste.

- For the BJr, the above and also set the volume pot low at 4 or less, and use the Master for volume control, and add a little reverb, at about 2.

- For the Dlx, and Dvl, the above and use the clean channel and add some presence to about 2.

+1

To add some "snap" when playing octaves or arpeggios, try dialing in a skosh of presence.
