What do you want? Help with the amp or help with the pedal? The Frontman 25R has Drive Gain and Drive Volume controls that when cranked sound like death.

The frontman does have more usable gain than one could use for a decent sound. In fact it is gain to die for. If you need more volume use the clean channel and crank it up to the max it will also sound like death. If you're having difficulty adjusting sound wth traditional volume, gain, and tone knobs, an alternative is a modeling amp which has presets of amp models and preset effect to tell you which are "Metal" and which are not.
