It was about 113º that day -- too hot for conventional "zapatos".

¿Entiendas?

A couple of years ago I coined the term Amp Stockpiling Syndrome or A. S. $ -the censor feature wouldn't print out the acronym to describe my affliction. In order to fulfill my quest for as many tones as I can create I've amassed a collection of 29 stringed instruments-26 of them guitars. To pump out the sounds of these instruments I've built up a collection of 12 amps and several speaker cabinets and I intend to keep going because I guess I'm just a hopeless tonechaser. Not that I'm not satisfied with the tones I have but I'm always looking for something new and consequently now have to switch my 10 X 10 music room with my 12 X 20 wreck (lol) room.

It's all Gear whether amps, guitars, cameras or whatever. Personally, I have too many mics but I can't bring myself to part with vintage AKG gear that actually works. :? Speaking of, I need to try that D190E on a bass cab sometime soon.

Only four, scratch that, make it five amps. (so far)

Just picked up a new Egnater Renegade last week and love it, BUT still liking the Hiwatts.
Who knows maybe next year, gotta give it a rest right now since it's my busy time of the year.

I have'nt purchased a guitar in about 5 years. But I have aquired 3 amps since.

It's like going from cigaretts to coffee, or beer to wisky, or the chronic to crack.

I haven't purchased a guitar in 203 days and counting.

But I've purchased about ten amps in the last year. I have this annoying friend who keeps finding interesting old amps and then talking me into buying them from him... My wife says I'm too gullible.

I keep thinking about buying a new amp but then I realize I don't really need one.

NEED?

NEED?

I have never let the word need get between me and a good amp. And I don't think I've ever bought an amp that I will lose money on when the day comes to (choke) sell it. Amps are fun. A size and model for every occasion.

Oh oh, I think I am seeing an Amp gap here, a big one.

I may have to consider building a new silo (addition to the house) to help close the gap and
re-establish MAD (Mutually Assured Deafness) .

Ah Détente lives on in the graying bongs of the revered elders who have not yet ascended to the next musical plane.

That amp is a Mosrite Venture's Model BG-1000 that I bought new in 1971. It's solid-state and sold for $995, though that's not what I paid for it. Very few were made, very few were sold and the whole "Venture" went belly up in about two years. I have never seen another one in this good a condition, though the cheap aluminum face plates are very prone to dings and dents.

These amps came out with 15" Jensen speakers in them, were very well built by Award in Minneapolis. They're quite large and quite heavy, but they are also incredibly loud.

Image

The amps were among the first to offer tremolo, vibrato, reverb and Fuzz-Rite distortion built in. They had four channels - two for bass and two for guitar.

In the "old days" I used this amp and two extension speaker set-up for guitar and PA.
