I have a 2010 2x12 Hot Rod DeVille I want to BUILD an extension cab for. I'm having trouble finding plans or any coherent instruction as to where I can find said plans.
I'm looking for a 2x12 ext set of plans with an open back. I know i could just by one but as I'm a carpenter and budding luthier, I want to make something special out of birds eye maple.
Any help would be......well, helpful!

Some speaker sales web sites have info on designing speaker cabinets (i.e., {for example} stuff on density of wood materials, bass reflection, resonance, baffle materials, mounting, and so on). All that is needed is some drafting equipment and your creative plans to create a blueprint of what you want.

Good luck.

I've visited the Shamano site and I didn't find what I was looking for.
I'm a carpenter, so I need plans not directions. Thanks though.
What I want to do is put my amp and new speakers into a new box of Bird's Eye Maple. I can just look at my old amp cab and repeat that. That's probably what I'll do for the ext. cab too.
I would like to hear from you all still.

Indeed -- it's mostly pretty rudimentary stuff. And the thumbnail-sized pics offer limited perspective, if any.

I build many of my own cabs as well. But in my case, I don't require any plans per se as I work from "stored memories" of how Leo originally built his furniture.

That looks real purdy! If you would, could you send some more pics my way? Jamesa440@yahoo.com. That's a closed back cab, right? I'd rather build one of those instead. Thanx

Mine are simple pine boxes, with lock-joined corners and screw-in baffles. Not very "pretty" I'm afraid.

At least not until the Tolex and grill cloth are installed......
