G'day folks,

I was wondering if anyone could refer me to a good resource which explains all things amp - inside and out. There are a lot of terms that I read in amp-related threads that are completely foreign to me (regarding circuit boards, wiring, all that business) and I think it might be beneficial to myself to do a little research on the subject

Thanks everyone

Your best bet might be to find one of those hobby kits that explains how electric circuits, electronics, and whatnot work. I think I'm going to do that at some point soon myself just to get a fuller understanding.

Hi Toronado,

Here are a couple of good places to start, as there probably isn't one site, or one book with all amp info, lots of info out there about amps.

Guitar Amp Handbook: (parts of the book unavailable on Google Books)
Guitar Amp Handbook on Google Books

Articles by Randal Smith:

Indeed, that does sound like a cool project. I'll probably give it a go some time, once I'm a little better informed.

Other than this forum there are some great online resources regarding amps and amp building. tdrpi.com and others have great informtion for specific amplifiers. If you build an amp do som online research and get as much information as you can. That way, your build project will be a great success.

If your looking for imformation overload on Fender amps I highly recomend "The soul Of Tone 60 years of Fender Amps"

The tube amp book by the Groove tube guy is a decent resource, weighted towards everything grrove tubes.

The guitar amp handbook as everyone else suggested also.

I have all three and find useful info all the time.
