The Renegade already has a power cut switch to knock it down to 18 watts, if you really need lower than that why not a smaller amp?

I use the resistance box method DIY $12. It works pretty good at low to moderate volumes and gets the 5e3's tubes working well. No heat issues as was indicated with the designer of the device.

Built it more than a year ago.

Easy to built...Safe for the amp.
Still using it... Still loving it... 8)

Looks great, BUT, I'm not a electronics expert, and I don't need a headphones attactment. But if you can give me a price on building one and shipping to the US, this looka interesting. (I checked out the link)

Why would you use one on a SCXD? From what I know of the amp you don't overdrive the tubes even a high volume.

It's used primarily as a Headphones-Out which helps me practice All day and all night if I want to.
The attenuation function is something that came along as a useful byproduct.

I have just finished a 2 year quest like what you are about to embark on and I can tell you from my experience, I wish like hell that I just went out and bought a small tube amp! My final attenuator is a Dr. Z air brake and it is awesome as far as reducing volume and is the best at keeping the essence of your amp, BUT you still don't really get your same tone as you would with out it. All the time and money that I spent I still ended up with two tones : 1 my amp un molested and the way I like it but really loud
2 my amp with a that sounds mostly like my amp at lower volume, but looses the really great stuff. Think of it like dialing in a solid state amp to mimic your tube amp.
Save your self the time and money don't try to make a big amp what it isn't.

Well after receiving the amp Friday, I really don't need to cut the power down at all with switching to 18 watts I can push the tubes nicley. It is louder than my BJ nos, but sounds so much nicer. Thank to all for your replies and suggestions.
