Bought a THD, about $250 for my BDRI, didn't really like it. Bought a volume box, $11.00, love it.

I use the Weber Attenuator as well... Minimal tone loss. In my opinion is one of the best

look into a rebel20. plenty enough for gigs and sweet for bedroom use as well.
they say that attenuators rob you of your tone and i agree.
thing is its not really "robbing" you, they just dont allow you to drive your speakers
and thats important when it comes to good usable tone.

I looked at the Rebel 20 and 30, but I really like the tone of the Renegade better, and I can switch it to 18 watts for at home. It also has a feature where you can bias your tubes externally(great for a tone junkie like myself) when changing out power tubes.
Any other options on these?

If you have an effects loop it would do you good to try a simple volume box before spending all the money on an attenuator. You can make one with parts from Radio Shack for about $10 or get one online for $11 plus shipping. It might be all you need. I used mine yesterday playing at an outside gig where I still needed to tame the volume on my BDRI a little. I've got a THD Hotplate I'm looking to get rid of shortly.

Volume pot on effect loops, is not the same thing than attenuator, all the tubes won't work the same manner as with an attenuator at the speaker output.

But it could be a good gadget.

Also a good idea with a volume box, I've seen them also. All I know is I'm gonna need something soon as I ordered the Renegade 65 watt over the weekend, (should be here Thurs-Fri.) with the Egnater 2x12 cab. Come on UPS!!!!!!!!!

Looks great, BUT, I'm not a electronics expert, and I don't need a headphones attactment. But if you can give me a price on building one and shipping to the US, this looka interesting. (I checked out the link)

I have a THD hot plate and love it. Saturates the sound nicely at low volumes.

Neither am I. I googled, all the needed knowledge.

That makes the schematic even more easier (and cheaper) to build. Just remove the upper right resistor, the lower Headphones/Speaker switch, the headphones volume and jack an your' re left with just 2 jacks, 3 resistors and the top switch (which can also be bypassed if you want the the attenuation to be "always ON").

Well, sorry pal, I don't do that kind of things. Don't have the time.
But it's really easy to build it yourself. Or tell a friend who knows how to solder things, to do that for you.

I have both and clearly know the difference. I also have ears and a wallet. Well worth spending $18 bucks to see if a volume box meets your needs before investing in an expensive attenuator.

Why would you use one on a SCXD? From what I know of the amp you don't overdrive the tubes even a high volume.
