i got a SS 22 2 days ago. I got to reherse with it last night & it sounded great. It passed my test of sounding good with a drummer. I kept it at 4 ish on volume. I did take a few minutes to dial it in with my custom 22. And Again the amp sounded really good for our style of music which is funk/blues/classic rock n roll/rockabilly stuff.
I am very pleased it IS a keeper.
I am having to bring it back to the store to get a different pair of 6V6's tho~
One of them is rattling BAD and the standby switch makes a bad pop, which made me initially think to make them reorder a new one for me. However, once I switched out the power tubes with a set I had laying around, the rattle was gone and so was the POP.
So, I will go up there today and get them to give me a new set, even tho I don't like GT's, might as well - they will be free.
When I install a pair of JJ's and some new preamp tubes and check the bias, I am sure it will even sound better. But might as well use the groove tubes while they are there or just keep em for a back up set y'know.
I am not going to make them reorder me a whole new amp over just some tube rattle!
When i pull out the bad tube and lightly shake it, you can hear the "broken light bulb sound".
Also the tube sockets are chassis mounted, which I did not realize at first, so that's a +.
OVERALL I am very satisfied with the tone. And unlike my Twin~Amp 100W, I can carry this thing in one hand and my guitar case in the other!!! My back is LOVING this!!

Got mine yesterday!:) Im use to having a half stack but im getting use to the combo's again, the rattle i hear is the cage and cant really do anything about it or just take it off. I replace the V1 and 2 with a NOS tubes and v4 with a Sovtek LPS the distortion better now, clearer and little more chime. The stock tube are pretty cheap Sovtek and chinese there ok but they will dull your tone a bit, I never keep the stock ones in. I have a bunch so I can roll a few to see what ones work best. Once you break the speaker in it should be smoother.

yeah i love mine...
yeah i took my cage off at the store and the preamp retainers - the instore rattle was coming from the preamp retainers on mine. But once i got it home, one of the 6V6's started rattling BAD.
i always order new tubes for mine as well, but might as well use the ones that came with it, seeing that i need to save up 100 for new tubes
when i went back to the store with it - they gave me a new matched pair of 6V6's, but instead of the groove tube 6v6-S (7's), all they had in stock was the groove tube 6v6-R (6's)... so i took them.
I guess once they burn in, i will bias them. every time i have installed power tubes on my other amps, i noticed they would change reading or drift when i went to check them again after a few months- so might as well just plug & play for a good week or so , then bias - seeing that they are close enough to the original tubes...
?
well here is my new SS 22:

sweet i have the black also, is the reverb kind of weak? hardly hear it, lucky I have a TC nova system. The deluxe's reverb you can really hear it! The preamp are pretty weak, I would put a tungsol in the v1 for sure and a Sovtek lps in v4 trust me it better then those chinese ones and I rolled a lot of tubes in my amps for best tone. Speaker break in will take around 2 weeks i guess depends how loud you play. I was looking at this fender amp site and seems to me these are a fixed biased amps like the deluxe and others, so theres only one trim pot for adjustment, prb can do it by ear. My engl was the same way.

hey does anyone know, how hot should my transformer get on this supersonic22?
I just played for 2 hours at vol 3.
It was warm to hot ( I basically could grab it for 5 seconds before it got to where it might burn me )
??????????

They have adjustable bias. (ther's a pot inside)

Guys, how loud the hiss on your amps in a real quiet area when no instrument is plugged in and the volume is completely turned down? Mine is great, but the hiss is really noticable at home.
My PRRI in comparance is totally quiet at idle.
Sounds great for sure though.
A lot of people complained about this, so I want to know if this really is in the design of the amp (like the CVR) or a fault in the unit.

Thanks!!!!

It's not an issue of the guitar.
With no guitar plugged in and all volumes at 0, the amp produces a hiss, which is quite noticable in a home invironment.

Believe me, it's not the tubes. I swapped all the stock tubes for quality tubes (NOS, Tungsol, LPS) immediately anyway...also i change & biased the powertubes (Tungsol RI)
It's not the tubes.
