I took back the deluxe, need some warmer and thicker gain. So I saw some vids and to wanted to check it out. i didnt blast it but I knew it should be enough power I hope :) Tell me how you like yours? treating you good? biased right? change some of the preamp tubes, AT7's NOS are pretty easy to get. Not a big fan of the "R" Sovtek tubes they are a bit lower gain, maybe thats good on a fender? I have a bunch here I prb will try in the V1 and 2, PI V4?

Coming from a DRRI you will like the fatness of the clean channel on the SS-22, you will even have to turn down the bass on the 'bassmann' setting!

The drive channel is a bit thinner though, I didn't feel that I could completely match the tone of the clean channel but it wasn't that far from being very nice. The drive channel is not something you just dial in and play, it takes somes work to get to know it.

Rectifier converts AC to DC and the choke, along with the power supply capacitors, filters the DC output to eliminate any ripple.

For the amp to operate at all.

Aside from the heater filaments, vacuum tubes do not like AC voltage.

I put a sovtek lps in the V4 think thats the PI, sounds better opened the tones up more. I always use this tube in the PI, nice tube for that. Stock was a cheap chinese, these amps and like most will sound better then the chinese and Russian (sovtek) tubes. The LPS is there best and is worthy of the PI slot.

V4 is not the PI, V5 is, and that slot uses 12AT7.
V4 is right after the reverb, but it is also important for the overall sound of the amp.
I agree about the LPS in the PI though. 8)

I know I have asked this already, but Is your amp really quiet at home, when no instrument is plugged in, standby on and all volume knobs turned down? Do you get a hum when you turn up the reberv knob above 4?
Thanks!

Reverend
