I am looking for a sweet tube amp that I can enjoy in my home and if need be, play a gig or 2 with...I really want a simple amp with sweet tone at low volume...

I'm comparing the following 3 amps:
1) Fender 65' Deluxe Reverb - $849
2) Fender Blues Jr. (NOS Tweed w/Jensen speaker) - $529
3) VOX AC15CCX (Blue alnico speaker) - $899

I really dig the sweet sweet sound of the 65' but the VOX presents a little more flexibility being a higher gain master volume amp. I've never played the Blues Jr. and I've heard mixed opinions about it...

What do you guys think?

I think that decision is strictly up to you. This is another personal preference thing, so nobody can really make the choice for you.

Here's a guide, but not so much a review.

If I had to choose between the those three for my main amp. I would personally choose the Blues Jr.. I play through a Hot Rod Deville 410, so that should explain my preference for the Blues Jr.. At first I knew I wanted a Fender amp, so finding a fender model that I liked was just as hard for me as somebody else might have had when having trouble choosing a brand. The Hot Rod series seemed to have every single thing that I wanted in an amp. These amps are known for being loud, so alot of people wouldn't choose them for home use just because of that, but I can play mine in the living room using the drive channel for low volume, which sounds pretty good being it's solid state driven. On the other hand, I can go out on the back patio and turn up the volume and be heard for three blocks, hehe. I hear alot of people putting these amps down because they don't have something like a reverb switch on the pedal, now that is a personal preference. I don't need that switch, I use alot reverb in just about every thing I play, so as far as I'm concerned it can stay on forever and it won't make much difference to me.

In my opinion, if I were you, I wouldn't take reviews to heart. Most of the time people put down things just because they made the wrong decision theirself.

Thanks for the post Guitar_Hurricane...

I've owned so many amps over the years...I owned the Hot rod Deluxe but did not fall in love with it. Great clean but terrible drive channel. Included in my long list of previously owned amps are the Fender Twin Reverb (AMAZING), G-DEC, Marshall JCM DSL 401, JCM TSL 602, JCM 900 head and 4x12 cab, Traynor, VOX AC30 etc etc etc...

I was really looking for something a little more portable and sweet sounding at lower volume. I mostly play at home these days and 85 watts of twin reverb is a little much...lol

:P I just took the plunge and ordered the 65' Deluxe Reverb and I'll use a pedal in front of it for any distortion sounds...Thanks for your thoughts!

Well, I'm sad to say that my 65 DXRI is not what I thought it would be...I've since returned it and I'm back in the amp hunt...

:(

Issues:
1) Vibrato - there is a loud tick tick tick sound when the vibrato is engaged, so lound in fact that it's driving me up the wall. I know there is typically a slight tick tick tick sound due to the vibrato circuit but it's too loud and can even be heard on my recordings.
2) Entering standby - produces a huge pop sound.

I thought the issues might be related to the power circuits in my home so I used a power conditioner to smooth out the current...No luck...

I am now trying to dsecide between the Blue Jr with Jensen, The AC15 with blue alnico and a Traynor YCV40WR...
