I am performing some of the modifications that can be made to a HRDx. One modification to improve on the sound of the reverb is to replace reverb tank. After checking various forums, etc., my thought is a 3-spring unit. The tank I’m looking at is a “MOD” tank, series 9EB2C1B. There are a couple of differences and I’m wondering:

Input and output Ohm impedance will be going from 600 and 2250, respectively, to 800 and 2575 respectively. Can this damage the amp?

The other question is it would be going from a long decay (delay) to a medium decay (delay). What effect is that on the sound of the reverb?

Would appreciate all feedback.

Hi SteveTR,

The impedance is close enough on the new tank that no damage will occur to the amp, but the new reverb will respond a little differently than the old because of the difference. But, it is imperative that your new tank has an isolated negative on the input (not grounded), while the negative of the output is grounded to the tank.

The decay is just how long a time period that the reverb sound keeps going after the guitar is strummed. Long decay, the reverb will ring out longer. Short decay, the reverb will fade faster.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

Thanks for the response. I will make that verification.
