Yes, I'm sure that's it. The red stuff is just kind of a seal used to tell if the adjustment has been moved from it's factory setting. I used red fingernail polish for the same purpose. I am also sure that you should NOT adjust it without checking the voltage at the test point first. You can ruin your tubes and/or amp by just "messing" with this adjustment. You really need to know what the test point reads in order to know if it needs to be adjusted.

Check out the EuroTubes bias adjustment video link that I posted before, and the link below has a lot great info about the HRDlx, and detailed description of the bias setting. You have to have a meter before proceeding, and when you are ready, and only IF it needs adjusting, simply rotate the pot until the seal breaks, it shouldn't be very hard to turn.

WOW! Bailed on the Hot Rod Dlx already! The Hot Rod series are awesome, but not versatile. They are great for clean stuff, blues, some classic rock (old aerosmith, zeppelin) but not for the harder stuff. The SuperSonic is a great amp....much more expensive, though. I'd like to pick one up eventually. I bought a Les Paul after playing it thru a SuperSonic. Handled all the GnR and other hard rock riffs that I could come up with.

That being said, I love my Hot Rod Deville....It is a great amp....but I also have a Peavey 5150 for the harder stuff. If I were forced to choose one amp, the Hot Rod Dlx/Dvl wouldn't be the one.

Be sure to put the SS 22 through it's paces and be sure to crank it up a bit. I was thinking about the 22 but it turned to garbage when I turned it up past 5 or so. Wasn't real punchy. Was decent at lower volumes. The one I tried was a bit wonky with the reverb too.

I was starting even more but i need something for the harder stuff, or I could use a pedal in front
