I think I 've tried them all, every (semi-affordable) single vintage reissue tubecombo Fender makes and I never thought I would end up with a Twin Reverb but it suited my playing perfectly. There is something about that big, round, fat and clean sound that is just so right. I like the fact that I wont be depending on any particular sound level to make it sound right, it just sounds good at all levels and I use stomp boxes for overdrive sounds. It took all my overdrive pedals and made all of them sound great, fat and warm with that big singing Fender tone that's so classic.

(Okay I didn't try that gorgeous red Prosonic 2x10 combo but it was half a days drive away and cost double of what the Twin Reverb did).

I know my back will argue against it but I wanted a 2x12 combo for bigger sound and I learned that my ears liked the 12's more (even if my eyes likes the 4x10).

Unfortunately I have to wait 3 weeks for it. A collegue is taking it with him home from the other end of this small country :P can't wait to do the usual YouTube demo of it.

all exited

Jim

Congrats!

It doesn't get much louder than a Twin Reverb.

I hear exactly where you're coming from, Jim! I tried a used TRRI earlier today that looked like it had been to hell and back and it still knocked my socks off. A/B'd it with some pricier Mesa's, etc but the clean was just superior to me. I think in terms of building your tone it all begins with the right clean, though it's problematic in that the clean of the DRRI/TRRI is almost too nice to change

I myself am hoping to get new one aswell once I can thin out some gear.
