I'm looking at a HRD. The guy says it's 4 years old. He wants $400 for it. He doesn't know if it's a HRD III or not. What year did the new ones come out and how do I tell the difference in the HRD and the HRD III. I'm thinking 400 is too much for the amp. He says he never played it but a few times because he can't play guitar very well. He was wanting to learn and then gave up on it. So What year did the new improved ones come out?

Yes I read the other threads about the HRD. There's one going now. But it doesn't tell what year Fender made improvements. Ala HRD III. I'm going to test drive it soon. Want more advice from you guys before I go. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The HRDX 3 came out late last year. The ones that I have seen have a black faceplate on them.Personally I wouldnt pay 400 for it,I have seen them go for 300-350 on CL all day long. They just dont hold their value.

+1 and if you go to trade it in, they'll only offer you $250-275 for one in mint condition.

Thanks guys. Those were the answers I was looking for. I pretty set on buying used gear simply because when I decide to sell something I can get most of my money back.

I'm having trouble deciding on which amp to get though.

Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Great solid amp. Don't buy an amp because of its price. Figure out your needs first like if you want to gig with it or just play by yourself at home. My HRDlx didn't hold up to gigging even a couple times a week. Try other amps too. I like the Jet City Amps and the Egnater Rebel 20. I've had my Rebel 20 for more than a year and it's been great. Before that my main gigging amp for the past 30 years was a 76 Twin Reverb. Great amp and pretty cheap on the used market.

Hello 63supro and thanks for the advice. Does the Deluxe Reverb Reissue do well with pedals and effects. Can I get that glassy bluesy SRV sound out of it? I also play country and rock and some metal so if I have the right pedals will it do it?

And if anyone else who has experience with the Deluxe Reverb reads this. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I bought a deluxe reverb and can tell you this amp does very well with pedals. The Deluxe reverb will give you glassy cleans as is typical of the blackface circuitry. The deluxe reverb does country and rock better than any amp I have heard. Not really a metal amp though. There are better amps for metal imo .From what I understand the Egnater can cover all those territories.
