Has anybody experienced with different speakers for the blues jr? If so what did you like best? I have heard they can sound even better with a new speaker.

I upgraded mine with a Celestion V30. Best thing I ever did - massive improvement.

Try it with your choice of good quality driver, you wont regret it.

I plan on putting a Celestion Vintage 30 in my Blues Jr. in the next little while.I put a V-30 in my old Traynor Guitar Mate and was floored by the improvement it made in the amp.

I highly recommend a Scumback Speaker. Either an H or M model.

Driver is another word for speaker. The older V30s are better than the new ones but the new ones are still pretty good. You can also check out the Celestion AlNiCo Gold and the Jensen P12Q. Saving what is arguably the best for last contact Weber and ask their advise.

The Celestion V30 is a very punchy, throaty speaker that will help fatten the tone of most EL84-type amps (Fender Blues Jr, Vox AC15, Peavey Classic 30, etc). This speaker, like all Celestions, only requires four mounting screws -- thus, it may be necessary to remove some hardware from your Fender's baffle board to install it.

No, it's ok Arjay - the V30 drops straight in - same fixings as the stock driver (speaker). No need to remove anything from the baffle (other than the old speaker of course!)

To whoever said Celestion Gold - check very carefully to see if it will fit. I have my doubts. A Celestion Blue definitely didnt fit in my BJ..

Thanks! I wasn't certain how many fasteners the Blues Jr baffle board uses -- thought I'd toss that out so there wouldn't be any frustrating surprises "just in case".

And +1 with any speaker(s) equipped with a large magnet cover. Which also rules out the Jensen Blackbird, Tone Tubby, some Webers, etc.

I haven't changed mine (the VOS Jensen isn't bad IMHO), but this is a good reference:

I was tempted by the V30, but the BJ is a little lean on Bass as it is, so I wasn't sure that was the way to go. The Swamp Thang sounds interesting to me.

I posted this in another thread previously but the thing that really made my Blues Jr. come alive was the addition of a closed back 112 extension cab with an Eminence Legend speaker. I just unplugged the combo speaker and plugged the extension cab in the same jack and that thing really rocks.

I tried the same thing. Disconnected the internal speaker and ran the amp through my Rivera 1x12 extension cab. Dramatic improvement

I guess it's time to pull out the pics of my Blues Jr. Chasis is stock, Cabinet is Walnut, the speakers are Scumback M and H models.

I put an Eminence Cannabis Rex in mine and I like it a lot. Much beefier tone and seems more responsive to my pedals. I also hook up a 2 x 12 Luke-2x12TR Birch Ply Cabinet from Seismic Audio with two 16ohm Eminence Texas Heats with a 12 gauge speaker cable.

The Blues Junior is a whole different animal with an extension cab attached. I am waiting on a Blues Deluxe Re-Issue to arrive next week and will probably get another 2 x 12 and do the same thing with it after I test the sound....
