My almost new DR is making a whistling/howling type sound as soon as it gets warmed up. Don't have to be playing.

Probably just a tube. If it's real new, take it back.

Yeah for sure sounds like a tube. Just take it back if new. If not just tap on the tubes with a pencil while it is on and the bad one should make a nasty noise when you tap it.

Sounds like a bad pre-amp tube.

True that! lol That is why I said tap. I was trying to use my adjectives correctly as to not lead him the wrong way and have him grab a hammer or something. lol

A pretty wierd thing happened with my DRRI. I had a similar problem and when I touched the tubes with a pen I could hear that sound from one of them.

So after like two I went to the local store where I bought it and got myself a new tube for free.

But then when I got home to check which one it was, all of them were fine?!

Did it recover itself or what? Didn't really get that...

BTW. It was the reverb tube that was wrong at first...
