I don't know what Budy Guy uses, but Buddy Guy was playing through a Fender Bassman reissue when I saw him live last year.

Buddy Guy - Amazing Damn right I've got the blues

Some people swear he used a Cyber-twin during this concert.

Saw Buddy a couple of times over the last few years. He was using Bassmans both times. Dweezil Zappa was using CTSEs during tours and TV shows in the last year or two.

Andy Timmons toured Italy with an ipod.
Does that count?

I used to own an old Roland Spirit 50 that was SS and sounded really good, but it was stolen from my brothers house. Now I have a Crate Cr1 made by SLM. it was one of the first crates ever made in the wood crate box. That sounds good also, The Crate actually really sounds good and like a tube amp all knobs to 10 there is the sweet spot! I tried to sell it a few months back for 75$ and you know what Im glad no one bought it.

Early John Fogerty with a Kustom, pleated upolstery even, solid state and a Rick. Sounded great. Gotta love it.

+1

Brother Tom and Stu Clifford also favored the Kustoms, albeit the latter preferred Sunn's 200S speaker enclosures......

There are a few artists using Quilter amps now, Alan Holdsworth being one of them. I heard a guy using a Quilter amp a couple of weeks ago and it was a really nice sounding amp. They aren't cheap however.

Didn't a certain Mr Les Paul use a Tech 21 Trademark 60?

 Chet Atkins for a year or two used a Standel C-15...i had one just for that reason and at lake Tahoe at Harrah's he used my Standel as did Don Rich when Owens and crew went to Les Pauls and Standel amps in the LATE 60's for a year

If you are ever forced to have to use a solid state amp, then by all means play through a Roland Jazz Chorus...

Most popular model is the JC120 which is too heavy/bulky for me, hence I own a JC77 that I purchased for $250....

Got to be the most under-valued amps around...

Hey Folks,

Just my two cents (adjusted for inflation and exchange rate)

There are a lot of great players from all genres that use tube and solid state amps and get great tones. As you all know, tone is subjective. It often depends on your taste in music. "One Man's/Woman's Joyful noise is a another Man's/Woman's noise :)"

I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum and I appreciate the tips people have given reading the posts.

I personally have been fortunate to accumulate and gig with some great tube and solid state amps ( Fender, Roland, Mesa/Boogie, Vox, Rivera) and in my opinion, it's all subjective. Different tools for different jobs. In the immortal words of the late Rodney King "Couldn't we all just get along"
