That speaker grille makes the amp look like something you would find tossed in the back of an "import tuner" car booming out muddy bass for all the world to hear.

Somebody mentioned B.B.King the other day as using a SS amp.
A guy told me one time he played a venue at the same time as B.B. and couldn't wait to ask him how he got "that tone",B.B. just replied,"I turns my amp all the way up." :D

I believe he used a Lab series amp.

Yup.
And Albert King was known to use Rolands.

well waddaya know, toobers can read, but only a little bit. read the list again and open those tiny eyes attached to that tiny little mind.

all pros use only tooob amps??????? are you that full of yourself and believe that stoobid urban myth???? boy, have you been drinking your own bath water.

and the point is: the edge uses anything he likes to get at what wants and then delivers. that's the mark of a real pro - use the tools of the trade & get the job done. the list was provided so that your little toobnik eyes can open up to the possibilities and maybe grow that brain a bit. maybe.

i am amazed with the internet generation. these kids are smart, they rock, and not afraid to use a laptop "amp" piped into an Electrovoice PA, you know, the kind that power a small jazz club right up to 100000 person stadium (or more)... and using that laptop to deliver.

ciao,
johnny.

This "toober" put $10,860 in his pocket for calendar year 2010, based on around 93 pro gigs plus some studio work on radio ad jingles. All, using "toob" amps.

How much your playing earn you last year, cupcake?

Hey Johnny, are you a fan of EJ? How about Satriani? Santana? Clapton? Just wondering, other than the edge who do you listen to? I could list some Blues guitar players but I doubt it's your kind of music...

Do you think the guys I listed are living a stupid urban myth?

A few i admire. Not saying these all folks use(d) solid state exclusively, but they have recorded and performed with SS a great deal:
Mike Stern - Yamaha
Sheryl Bailey - Jazzkat
John Pizzarelli- Jazzkat
Bucky Pizzarelli- Jazzkat
Pat Martino - Acoustic Image
Jim Hall - Polytone
Ed Bickert - Polytone
John Scofield - JC120
Pat Metheny - Acoustic 134
The late Wes Montgomery - Standell

Many acoustic guitarists DI to the mixing board, more and more electric guitarists are doing the same.

There are no absolutes in aesthetics, indeed the very language we use to discuss tone is abstract, subjective, and ambiguous. If an instrument inspires one to play, as far as I am concerned it is as perfect as any other instrument. I have been playing since 1964, have many tube and SS amps, expensive ones and cheap ones. I have these in my music room because each one offers something unique and unavailable somewhere else.

Peace my friends.

to my toob pals:

what, no flag to wrap yourself in? wow. you made $10K. i'm really impressed that you'd be dumb enough to brag about it as if... i'm sure rolling stone is just dying to get your cover story. dude, you're a legend in your own mind, and about as meaningful.

the edge was one example, i see others have chimed in. it's been my observation pros just do what they do with what whatever, wherever, no explanations required. drawing conclusions beyond that would be a little ridiculous, unless you got real cozy with them. are you cozy? but it doesn't stop monkee see, monkee do, you can do whatever too.

----

internet generation: stand up and be counted. you are the future here and now! you are smart, comfortable with technology & innovation, willing to create new sounds, tones, and your own music. EXPRESS YOURSELVES! we want to hear from you.

ciao,
johnny.

as i suspected, you do have a thing for red, hot, and smellies. my compliments on that well-framed pic of your girlfriend, we wish you both a bright and happy future plucking each other's G-strings through a toob amp. such harmony, one can only imagine. btw, do you do circus? a clown act perhaps?

ciao,
johnny.
