If the effect was to waste forum space, it was a success.

SS amps are great for some uses, they fit right in with the likes of rap and shred.
Neither of which is actual music.

I do have three SS amps in my herd, a 1973 Traynor, and 2 more modern boxes, a 2007 Roland and a 2010 Fender Mustang.
They are alright for practice, especially good with headphones, one of them is even OK for some recording uses, all are useless for live performance.
Someday might be, but not ready for prime time yet.

pretty strong statment.
just because you might not like shred or rap doesnt mean they arent
a type of music. all the mags are geared towards shred except a couple, rap is out selling every other type of music except for country, but that depends on where you read it.
nothing wrong with SS amps if thats what ya like. several huge names have or are currently using them.
hell i dont care for rap either. not todays rap anyways. imo it lacks flavor and most of it is talentless, again in my opinion.
shred takes skill to do correctly. some of the best musicians rock/metal has ever seen are shredders. gilbert, vai, satch, eddie, malmsteen, friedman, macalpine, petrucci, becker, impelliteri, just to name a few. so shred doesnt appeal to everybody i agree but it dang sure is selling.

"Shred"......sub-sonic white noise amplified by 1.21 jigga-watts.

"Rap"......ghetto profanity set to a primordial tempo.

'NUFF SAID!

I'm with Arjay regarding rap.I think of music as typically containing rhythm, harmony & melody. It's difficult for me to see "beatz" with monotone vocals as music.

Yeah, I don't know why so many top professionals still stick with tube amps when there are things like I-Phone apps that you can plug into now.
