got the DRRI, however when i use the reverb theres this rattling sound and the higher the reverb the worse it gets... its not feedback as i tried moving all over the room and it still happens. also, when i flip the amp into standby, not off but standby, it makes a popping sound, even if i turn the volume down to 0. anyone know whats going on with my new amp?

The standby pop seems to be a very common with these amps. My brand new DRRI does the same thing when I go from power on to standby. I can't speak to the reverb issue your having. I did have a problem with a new DRRI that I purchased (and returned for another one). That amp had severe feedback that would continue on an on as the reverb was turned up. I even purchased a new preamp tube and installed it in the reverb section to no avail. The DRRI I have now (mfg. in Nov 2010) is working great with no issues (knock on wood).

From what I remember, you need to have the footswitch plugged in and on for the vibrato to work. At least that's how all mine worked. I'd make sure the tubes are seated properly. If they are, take the amp back. Seems like reverb issues are the new flavor of the month in the Fender amp problems.

footswitch plugged in, hit vibrato, nothing... play around with the settings and.... nothing.... no vibrato, standby pop, and glassy rattling with reverb :?

Bad footswitch?

That's really the only common component between the reverb and trem circuits. And there were a rash of footswitch failures recently.

The "pop" coming into and out of standby, while not reassuring, seems to be somewhat common with many but not all of the re-issues. It also occurs on some older vintage Fenders.

Does the reverb operate normally with the footswitch unplugged from the amp?

Arjay

the reverb half of the footswitch works (although if i recall correctly it was actually the side labelled as vibrato activating the reverb, but i could be wrong), and unplugged i still get the rattling with reverb and it doesnt seem at all effected by the footswitch or lack there of...

Sadly, I must agree.

A "NAD" should be a joyous event, not a day fraught with disappointment and zeitgeist.

Insist on exchanging it for a new one and test drive the replacement before leaving the store.

Best of luck, we're all rooting for you.

I agree, I never leave the store with a sealed box. I always give it a test run.
