Hello folks,

I purchased a brandnew Fender Super Sonic 22 in September last year and there was something wrong with the reverb - it didn't work!

I brought it back to the dealer for shipping it to Fender in order to get a warranty repair. One week later it came back. With reverb working but not as it should: There was a growing feedback rising to instrument level when using the reverb above "3".

I brought ist back 2nd time: As Fender got it back they promised to change it to a new one. That was in the beginning of November last year!!

I'm still waiting for my black Super Sonic 22!!

My dealer got a blonde one and gave it to me 'til the originally ordered black one will arrive.

And this blonde one has exactly the same problem with the reverb!

I've found out that Fender still uses Accutronics reverb cans but they're produced in Korea now... coincidence?!?!

I feel betrayed in some way 'cause I payed 1100 EURO for this amp in September and haven't got a working one 'til now...

I think Fender released the new Super Sonics before they were tested completely, otherwise this problem can't be explained to occur in both Super Sonic 22 amps I plugged my guitar in 'til now. The reverb is one of Fenders legendary features... it should damn work!

Neverending story...

That really sucks stratgod82! These reverb tanks seem like a huge problem lately, in many different amps. Weren't the Accutronics tanks made in the US until recently? I don't think it's a coincidence, and I hope that Fender makes it right for you.

Some follow members already mentionned reliability issues ! Howerver mentionned the great sound.
Feedback with the reverb means a problem on level reinjected on the ampli stage. --> wrong components or design issue !!!

lately ive heard lots of people having problems with the reverb units in new fender amps, ive played a supersonic 22 in a shop, (reverb was working) and it sounded awsome, my only advice is take it out and fix it your self, there isnt much to go wrong on a reverb unit, and in most cases its a lose wire or a badly solderd joint... i can understand the dissapointment of a brand new amp having problems but it makes more sense to me to spend 5 minutes fixing the prob myself rather than 4 months of sending it back and forth to fender...

Fixing a new amp by myself would void the warranty!

The price is too high for that!

Some of the problems with the reverb tanks were the connections were never soldered and nobody at FMIC dies a 100% QC check on them.

I'm from the old school that if I get a DOA piece of equipment, It goes back and then I start looking at other manufacturers. The HRDlx cured me of that. I should have hook shot that in the dumpster the first time it died. The couple of 22's I tried couldn't hang after 4 or 5 on the volume dial. Sounded awful to me. YMMV Seems like FMIC is going in a weird bell and whistle direction with their new amps when most musicians just want a reliable, great sounding, well built amp. Dump the channel switching, DSP effects and cheap components and help keep the landfills empty by building a great piece of gear. I've had enough of disposable equipment.

Seems strange to me that some have no pops at all and some have ! Is it possible that different subcontractors made the "same PCB" ? That could be explain some slight differences !

I agree Supro. And I think its ok to have some of these, but dang, make some meat and potatoes amps that are just solid amps that have the capability to maybe dial down from 20 watts to maybe 5 watts. And make it a 6l6 amp, not a 5 watt overpriced amp like the 57 champ.Maybe a solid pcb(well built) version of the 57 deluxe with a few of those options.

Wow, this is truly disturbing to hear.

All I can say is this, I have played Peavey amps for 30+ years in one model or another with 0 problems other then tube failures.

My two current amps are a Peavey classic 50 212 and a Ultra plus 60 212, either work great at any volume.

I will also add the new Fender (Made in China) Champion 600 has given me 0 issues, but it is a very simple amp, two channel, only a volume control. The only thing you can change is to use the bright of normal channels but you have to plug the guitar into it, it's not switchable.
I have no complaints with the 600, but this post and others I have seen here sure does not lead me to think about selling my big amps for a new Fender amp.
