Hey folks.
I have a fender blues deville amp.
Just curious if someone can lend any insight to a slight issue i'm having with it.

I can only play the amp at very low levels right now since I live in an apartment and
As I play, i hear a slight rattling noise from within the amp somewhere. This only happens on some notes.
It doesn't happen on every note; just a few frequencies I guess. It can get annoying.

What might the issue be and what might you try to attempt to fix it had you this same irritation?

cheers

Hi towps,

It sounds like it might be something loose on the amp. Check for loose screws on the chassis, front and back panel. If all screws are tight and still have noise, try the amp with the back panel removed, being careful not to touch anything inside the amp as there is lethal voltage in there, and see if you still have the noise. Sometimes a ribbon cable or other wires can vibrate against the panel from the inside. It could also be a preamp tube, you could try a new one in each position, one at a time to see if the noise goes away. Switch the amp to standby, or off, before changing tubes. Try a new tube in V1 first, if the noise is still present, put the original tube back in V1 and repeat for V2, then V3.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

I had a similar thing. While I never fully got rid of it I found that the cable ties round the bunched up cables inside the back of my BDRI had come loose and were vibrating against the back of the amp. This only happend on A notes!

I slid the cable ties along the wires until they were all tight again and it defeated 80 per cent of all the vibrations - certainly those that were coming through the backplate. No, it didn't kill them all but it's a tube combo and I hear that all of these things rattle to an extent.

If you can hear it through the speakers its probably one of the valves.
