Hi
Just bought a Blues deville and I'm trying to date it and see what it's worth. Can anyone help me. It says made in the USA Brea California on the back cover. It's in great almost mint condition. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi setfreemm,

There may be a two-letter date code on the inspection sticker inside the amp somewhere. See here for details.

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/amplifier-product-dating

There is a date, hand written, on the main circuit board behind the back panel, six screws hold the panel on. If you need to remove the panel to find the date, unplug the amp from electricity first, and don't touch any parts inside, they can still have a lethal charge even with the amp off and unplugged.

Most likely 1990's. Not vintage!

No, it's not a vintage amp. It is from the 90's. If you just got it, have a tech give it the once over and make sure the filter capacitors are good and make sure nothing is cooking on the board. Just a friendly suggestion.

There are many "guys" on the net that sell kits like you've described. I have used Fromel kits, which are very good, but you pay more for the kit, the instructions mostly. You can get the parts yourself for less money than the kits cost. For the BDvl, there are a couple of versions, make sure that you get the right kit (check your schematic. One version has two 100 uF, two 47 uF, and two 22 uF caps, and one version has four 100 uF, and two 22 uF caps. The correct voltage rating of the caps is important also.

Hot Rod blues amps came out about the mid 90s so it does not meet the 20 year mark yet, but give it a couple of more years and it will fit the definition of "Vintage".
